Debbie and Jay’s Royal Botanical Gardens Wedding was such a great day! It did downpour all day long, but that did not stop us from getting some amazing photographs!
The couple decided to keep the ceremony in the outdoor tent at the Royal Botanical Gardens, and I am happy they did. Nobody got wet and they still proceeded with the plain they had wanted all along. The only difference was that we had to move the formal photos inside to the Mediterranean Gardens, instead of outdoors in Hendrie Park like the wedding photos I did the day before.
I started off the day with Jay and his brother and parents with some getting ready photos and then headed over to see Debbie and her family. Debbie had a lot of family in from England to celebrate their wedding! I grabbed a few photos of Debbie outside on the porch while my assistant held an umbrella over my head.
We managed to grab a whole wedding attendance photo, which is a very difficult photo to get. You need to have the right location and a place where the photographer can be high enough to get everyone into the photo. Thankfully the Royal Botanical Gardens Wedding location has a balcony which allowed me the opportunity to get this photo. After taking all our formal photos in the Mediterranean Gardens I convinced the bride and groom to head outside for a few outdoor photos with some great lighting techniques, and we also took some umbrella photos as well. I tell my couples all the time we need to embrace what we have available to us, just because it is raining, it doesn’t mean you can’t get stunning photos, and in my opinion more unique photos because not many people get that opportunity. I just loved the way the photos of Debbie and Jay under the tunnel turned out! I’ve also heard that rain on your wedding day is good luck!
